Building on the Campaign for Action to Create a Healthier America
The Nebraska Action Coalition will co-host the first of two sessions this summer to help all Action Coalitions better understand how the goals of nursing and a Culture of Health fit together, and how Action Coalitions can collaborate even more to produce good health for all.
The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action will co-host the June 21-22 event, at which Action Coalition members will carry out activities to:
- Understand how their collaborations with a diversity of people and organizations already are building a Culture of Health
- Learn how to develop strategies for building a Culture of Health
- Strengthen connections with partners through Culture of Health work
- Communicate more easily about a Culture of Health
This will be the first of two sessions to provide Action Coalitions time to be inspired by the Culture of Health ideal—Everyone deserves to live the healthiest life possible—and also the tools on how to turn the vision into reality.
The Nebraska Action Coalition last fall held a statewide effort to consider how to build healthier communities. Its Culture of Health Summit 2015 brought together 250 Nebraskans, including consumers, health care providers, and business leaders, and led to a report, Defining and Transforming a Culture of Health in Nebraska.
Welcome from the Nebraska Action Coalition
As director of the Nebraska Action Coalition, I’m thrilled to welcome colleagues from across the country to put plans into action to build a Culture of Health in communities across the nation. “Building on theCampaign for Action to Create a Healthier America” takes place June 21-22.
I am proud, as well: Part of the reason Nebraska was chosen to co-host this meeting with the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is that we held a Culture of Health Summit last year and planted the seeds of the movement here in the Heartland. Last fall, we brought 250 leaders from all sectors of many communities to collaborate on ways to make health a shared value. From that, we created Defining and Transforming a Culture of Health in Nebraska, a report that shows exactly how central nurses are to all efforts.
