The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is excited to attend the National League for Nursing (NLN) Education Summit Sept. 28-30 in Las Vegas. We want to hear your story of progression in nursing and as a thank you, we will send you a headshot (digital and print) of yourself that you can use professionally.
About This Collaboration
NLN and the Campaign for Action, an initiative of AARP Foundation, AARP and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, are collaborating to address the nursing shortage gap through a new recruitment strategy to empower people considering a career in nursing, including high school students, entry-level nurses and allied health professionals. Pathways to and Progression in the Profession for LPNs/LVNs aims to help people advance in their current roles, or to become registered nurses.
To build the program, we hope to capture and tell the stories of LPNs/LVNs who are either experiencing barriers to progressing in the profession or who have overcome barriers and obstacles to progress in nursing. The Campaign will have staff at the conference hotel during the summit to speak with LPNs/LVNs, or those who have been LPNs/LVNs, and are willing to share their names and stories.
How Will Your Stories Be Used?
The Campaign will work with writers, graphic designers and video producers to create stories for social media, blogs and other platforms to build support for the program. We’ll ask you basic questions, such as your name, age, address and contact information. But we’re most interested in your story. Why did you decide to become an LPN/LVN? What drove you? What continues to drive you every day as a nurse? We will listen, record video, perhaps take photos.
The Pathways to and Progression in the Profession for LPNs/LVNs aligns with the NLN’s mission to promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce to advance the health of our nation and the global community. It also reflects the Campaign for Action’s continued work in improving health equity, closing the shortage gap by transforming nursing education, and increasing diversity in nursing.
