Learn about the need to modernize institutional-level policies so that registered nurses and APRNs can work to the full extent of their education and training. First, we will hear from Mr. Marcus Henderson, MSN, RN, a PhD student at Johns Hopkins University, who served on the National Academy of Medicine’s committee that produced the Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Charting a Path to Achieve Health Equity. He provided us with the report’s recommendations in this area to set the stage with a broader context of the need to modernize institutional policies.

Then, we heard from Dr. Toby Bressler, PhD, RN, FAAN, Mount Sinai Health Systems’ Senior Director of Nursing for Oncology and Clinical Quality. Dr. Bressler has a wonderful story about how she able to modernize the policies of the APRNs and RNs in her unit. It’s a great example of what could be replicated nationwide.
