This webinar is part of a series by the Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action to support nurses in their ongoing effort to improve health for all and reduce racial disparities in the United States. During this webinar, we will define cultural humility, which gives us a greater understanding of cultures different than our own; describe the history and evolution of its framework in healthcare; and examine the impact nurses can make in promoting health equity.

Presenter:

• Kupiri Ackerman-Barger, PhD, RN, FAAN, associate dean for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, associate clinical professor, director of Faculty Development for Education and Teaching, and researcher for the Center for a Diverse Healthcare Workforce, University of California Davis, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. She is also an advisor to the Center to Champion Nursing in America. Ackerman-Barger’s academic interests relate to health equity and social justice. Over her career, she has combined her expertise in nursing and education to advance inclusive learning environments, education equity, and workforce diversity.
